An in-kind gift is a charitable gift in which, instead of giving money to buy needed goods and services, the goods and services themselves are given. Some may choose to donate equipment or other items that may prove useful to the school.
Gifts-in-kind are non-monetary items of tangible personal property such as art, collectibles, books, computers, equipment, automobiles, inventory, and other personal assets or materials that represent value to Victory Christian Center School’s educational or athletic program.
Gifts-in-kind, as defined above, must be tangible property in good, working condition. Unreimbursed expenses such as food, professional services, and limited use of private property are not considered tax-deductible, charitable gifts-in-kind by the IRS. We might certainly receive such gifts (and appreciate them), but the donor will not receive a receipt for the gift-in-kind from VCCS.
